The Webster Groves High School jazz bands were invited to perform September 25 at Jazz at the Bistro, one of the top jazz venues in the world, in midtown’s Grand Center district. All three Webster jazz bands rose to the occasion, providing a wonderful evening of music for friends and family in a swanky setting. Here’s hoping this becomes an annual event!
Jazz 1 dazzled the audience at the annual Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The weather was unseasonably warm and delightful, and the band jammed for a solid hour for a good variety of jazzy tunes. Kudos to the dedicated jazz students for another stellar performance!

The camp will be staffed by drummer Matt Wilson, trumpeter Michael Philip Mossman, and saxophonist Adam Larson and will be centered around small group performance, composition, and arranging as well as improvisation and general musicianship. Incoming 8th-12th graders are eligible, and the fee is $200 for Webster Groves students and $275 for those not attending Webster schools.

The annual WGHS Jazz event, “Cool Nights, Hot Jazz” at the Pageant is memorable in many ways… most notably for the students who get to perform on this esteemed STL stage.
